Competitive
SPAM Ranked
Ranked is SPAM's competitive ladder: your rank is on the line every game, and the climb from the opening tiers to the top of the leaderboard is the game's long-term progression challenge.
Applies to patch 1.23 · Updated 2026-10-15
Unlocking ranked
Ranked unlocks after you complete three casual matches. Casual mode is the relaxed queue for learning; Training mode is a non-attacking AI dummy for testing damage numbers — neither affects your rank.
Fairness: the coin flip
Since patch 1.21, every ranked game opens with a visible coin flip deciding who plays first. The second player receives extra Spamtons as compensation, and the developer has published launch statistics showing a near-perfect balance: 49.5% win rate going first, 50.5% going second. Patch 1.21 also aligned the displayed rank names with the in-game ladder.
Rewards
Ranked wins pay the same crystals and XP as casual wins — the ladder is about prestige, not gated income, so free-to-play players are never locked out of progression. Level-ups from ranked games award orbs exactly like any other mode, and daily/weekly missions can be completed in ranked.
How to climb
- Master one deck before collecting many. The launch-week leaderboard was full of free-to-play players piloting single, well-understood lists — the developer noted several top-10 players had spent nothing.
- Learn the numbers. Accuracy, crit chance and resistances decide games more than rarity does — see combat mechanics.
- Shop deliberately. The Tox Shop is where even matches are won; our Tox Shop guide covers what to buy at each stage.
- Pick a proven list. Best decks and the deck tier list track what is working this patch.
